Some residents say there aren't enough plans for new trails

County commissioners' approval, bridge deal are final hurdles

The city of Boulder is close to wrapping up a land deal that would allow mountain bikers to connect from Boulder Canyon to Flagstaff Mountain via Chapman Drive.

The Chapman Drive connector was one of two mountain bike trail proposals approved last spring by the City Council as part of the management plan for the West Trail Study Area, a chunk of open space west of Broadway.

Dual slalom races a way to 'reach out to the community'

Around here, there aren't many places for mountain bikers to race dual slalom -- a head-to-head form of racing in which two cyclists rip down winding side-by-side dirt tracks.

Local cyclists hope to showcase Valmont Bike Park in 2014-15 championships

Boulder Cycle Sport owner Brandon Dwight is used to criss-crossing the country for USA Cycling's cyclocross national championships. He's done it every year for 14 years.

But for the 2014-2015 season, Dwight is hoping -- as a racer and a business owner -- that the national championship races will be held here in Boulder, at the Valmont Bike Park.
