Park Host Program
Be the Host with the Most
We expect that all year long, folks will be flocking to this park to enjoy the world-class new facility, but might be a little at a loss on exactly which jump lines are right for them or the best way around the Glade trails. That's where you come in. The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department has asked for your help by creating the Park Host Program. This is a three tiered program where volunteers will have the opportunity to learn trail maintenance and digging. Your help will be needed throughout the year. In order to move up into the next tier each person will be evaluated on their skill, attitude and abilities to work safely to enhance the user experience.
Tier 1: Park Host
A Park Host knows the park backwards and forwards, so that you can then convey that info to the general public. Hosts will understand the layout of the park so you can tell XC and DJ riders where to go, so you can help people understand that different park features are built for different ability levels, and so you can answer people's questions about the park and keep everything running smoothly. Park Hosts will have access to brooms and water.
Tier 2: Trail Maintenance
After working as a Park Host you move to the second tier working with City staff or a Crew Boss to maintain trails with a shovel while still fulfilling you basic customer service duties as Park Host.
Tier 3: Crew Boss
The last tier of the Park Host program is becoming a Crew Boss where you can lead a crew doing more in depth maintenance items.
