Trek 70s Party
On Thursday, April 14th, our supporters at the Trek Bicycle Store pulled out all the stops with a rad 70's party, complete with disco ball, disco music, and a ton of crazy Boulderites who took this opportunity to dress up and set the mood right. Gary Fisher (yes, that's him in the picture at the top of this article) busted out his finest duds for this one - check out those awesome pants and full-on mustache style! The wig isn't so bad either.
Trek Store threw this party as a fundraiser for Boulder Mountainbike Alliance and the Colorado High School Mountain Bike League; all proceeds from the $6 pint glass & beer are split between these two organizations. Thank you Trek Store for showing the love! This event raised right at $1000 and increased community awareness of both of these groups.
Although it was hard to hear him at times, Gary Fisher gave a speech where he was super fired up about the lack of mountain bike access in Boulder, and offered up stories of progress being made in Marin County to prove that things will change here too. Kate Rau from the Colorado High School Mountain Bike League and Kevin Bracy Knight from the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance also spoke about their organizations and the exciting things happening in the Boulder County mountain bike scene.
At times the beer line was crazy long, and I heard that Avery had to run back to the brewery for some more beer. Way to drink it up in the name of BMA and the High School MTB League!
Here's a few choice photos from the event. We've posted more photos to a Facebook album - check it out and tag yourself! Big thanks go out to BMA volunteer Ian for taking these fine photos.
