On April 5, 2012, the USFS hosted an Open House in Nederland to discuss the recreation plan for the West Magnolia area following the fuels reduction. The turnout was high and the folks that came had some very thoughtful questions and expressed their concerns about the cut and the follow-up very succinctly. Though a number of folks had questions about the why and how much of the tree cutting, the USFS representative, Ed Perault, did not make too many comments on that as the point of the meeting was "what happens next".

National Trails Day 2011 - Benjamin Property Finishing what we started! Mother Nature once again gave us a beautiful day for NTD this year. On June 4th , 54 volunteers converged at the Boulder County Courthouse parking lot. Fueled by breakfast sponsored by Boulder County, volunteers were divided up into crews and shuttled up to the trailhead off of Fourmile Canyon.

On Thursday, April 14th, our supporters at the Trek Bicycle Store pulled out all the stops with a rad 70's party, complete with disco ball, disco music, and a ton of crazy Boulderites who took this opportunity to dress up and set the mood right.  Gary Fisher (yes, that's him in the picture at the top of this article) busted out his finest duds for this one - check out those awesome pants and full-on mustache style!  The wig isn't so bad either.

Thanks Boulder mountain bikers for showing up! Missed it? Here's what went down: On March 15th, the City Council convened at Boulder High School to take public input on the West TSA plan. In the thrilling world of the local political process, this was our last and best hope ("Help me Obi Wan") to sway "the Deciders" after 18 months of being shut out of the process and the discussion.

Thank you supporters of bikes on trails! The mountain bike community turned out in force for a public hearing before the Open Space Board of Trustees. What gets 250-300 mountain bikers to show up to a political event on a cold, dark evening, and to do it with a smile on their faces? The opportunity to correct something unjust and a chance to make a change in their community for the better.  You showed up to throw your voice behind the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance and our plan for modest trail access in the West Trail Study Area (West TSA).

The 6th annual Boulder Mountainbike Alliance Banquet was held on Friday, February 4th at the St. Julien Hotel.  Over 200 dedicated mountain bikers turned out to support BMA, and had a great time doing it! We dined on delicious food, drank fine beers from Oskar Blues, rubbed elbows with local politicians, and gawked at the fancy clothes our friends were wearing (strange to realize these people own more than a helmet, jersey, and shorts).  The silent and live auctions included all kinds of cool stuff, from jackets and bike parts to fully-built bikes and killer trips.

When is a new website more than just a new website? When it's accompanied by 150 mountain bikers; free socks, shirts and coozies; games and delicious (not to mention free) Avery beer! For those who attended, we hope you partied your new socks off at BMA's best party yet. And for those who didn't, you can peruse the website to see what inspired the good times.

Every year, Boulder Mountainbike Alliance holds a big ol' party to celebrate the past year of successes.  We stepped it up a notch in 2010 by holding the Membership Party at the Boulder Draft House.  BMA filled up the back area with new and old members who got to know each other, drank a lot of beer, and received some fun swag from BMA Business Members RockyMounts and Redstone Cyclery.

What a better way to spend a fall day then with some of your best friends? The epicness of SufferFest 2010 came in the form of perfect temperatures, sunny skies, and 70+ riders taking to the trails. We are not always blessed with sunny skies, previous years have seen rain, sleet, and even snow! So what is SufferFest you ask?

Did you miss out on the biggest, most bombastic mountain biking party of the year? Every year in the dark days of winter, BMA helps you look forward to the upcoming riding season with the annual BMA Banquet. This year, like the four before it, we sold out every seat in the house! It's grown steadily into a who's who of local politics, bikers and businesses.
