TAKE ACTION! Anemone Hill Trails Go to OSBT
Do you want a mountain bike-able trail close to Boulder downtown? Then it's time to show up!
On Wednesday August 17, the Open Space Board of Trustees (OSBT) will discuss the possibility of mountain bike-accessible trails on Anemone Hill. This idea was a bone thrown to the cycling community by City Council, yet the Open Space Department staff has said "no" over and over again. The OSBT meeting is one important step in reversing thi s trend.
BMA analysis: Being confrontational is an undesirable and distasteful method of getting a fair shake from our government, but unfortunately, this is the hand we've been dealt. We spent the last several years reaching out to staff and the community and those efforts were met with NIMBYism and acrimony. Playing nice isn't getting the desired effect. It's time to be assertive and make no bones about the ramifications of ignoring our reasonable desire for mountain bike access.
Unless OSBT and City Council hear from YOU, there will be no mountain bike accessible trail on Anemone Hill.

The Backstory
When the Boulder City Council adopted the West TSA plan last March 30th, they directed staff to "explore possibilities for a bike loop or bike trail within the Anemone area, especially looking at a connection coming in from the Boulder Canyon Bike Path".
To comply with this directive, OSMP contracted with Designs Concepts and Couture Logic develop trail alternatives for consideration. In a study session August 9, representatives from contractor and staff shared their ideas with the Open Space Board of Trustees (OSBT). Throughout this process, OSMP staff made it clear that they desired an outcome that did not include bikes. So it comes as no surprise that the staff recommendation to OSBT is to say no yet again to bikes in the West TSA.
The next step in this process will be a formal meeting of OSBT Wednesday, August 17, at the Boulder Utility Maintenance Center located at 5050 Pearl St starting at 6:00 pm. OSBT will discuss this issue, listen to public input, weigh the input from staff, consider the recommendations from the contractors and make their recommendation which will be forwarded to City Council for their consideration at their September 6th council meeting.
