Waldrop Trail Finishing
Take off early for the Labor Day weekend, and join us on Thursday for a single day of fun completing the Waldrop Trail BMA and WRV began last year and almost completed earlier this year. Then, continue on with the rest of your Labor Day weekend festivities.
On August 29, volunteers will continue work on the Sourdough to Waldrop trail connector, began on Aug 17-18. The work will include easy to moderate trail construction and finishing.
In 2012, WRV and BMA constructed a 450 foot connector trail from this new trailhead to the Sourdough Trail. Earlier this August we almost finished the remaining 2, 500 feet. One more day and we should be done.
The Brainard Lake Recreation Area is one of the most popular wilderness access points in the United States, receiving over 130,000 visitors per year. To reduce impacts on the wilderness, the US Forest Service has created the new "Brainard Gateway."
The Brainard Gateway is a top regional priority for the US Forest Service, because it is such a visible entry point to a popular destination. The fruits of your volunteer efforts will be seen and enjoyed by millions of people over the coming years!
Registration for this project is being managed by WRV. To register visit WRV's website at Waldrop Trail Finishing
