West Magnolia Trail Project
The USFS has done extensive fuels treatment (logging) in the extremely popular West Magnolia trail network southwest of Nederland. The logging has dramatically changed the landscape and the trail system. These impacts create a need to repair the trails and an opportunity to improve the trails.
The trail work this year will focus on repairing the Re-Root Trail that was heavily impacted by the recent logging. In addition to the trail work, volunteers will be spreading native grass and wildflower seeds in the most heavily impacted areas, and using debris from the logging to discourage off-trail mountainbike use.
This is a great opportunity to learn about trail construction with a design emphasis on mountainbiking. Also, it is a great opportunity to make new friends and participate in the ongoing partnership between Boulder Mountainbike Alliance and Wildlands Restoration Volunteers.
Volunteers will camp in a beautiful, cool area, at 8,700 feet near the work site. Food, fun and libations for volunteers over 21 available. Please bring an ID.
