What a fun ride we had last night! Six ladies came out to rip it up at Walker Ranch. We did a nice out-and-back counter clockwise to the Bike Portage and back, enjoying the beautiful setting and very few other trail users. I gotta say the BMA gurlz can bomb it on the downhills! We narrowly missed the rain that started JUST as we pulled out of the parking lot to have food and beers at Under the Sun; except Meredith who didnt have her ID so they wouldn't serve her!
Our first two weeks of the season were rained out, but we finally were able to ride Hall Ranch, Thursday, May 16.
We made our way through the rock garden of Bitterbrush, encouraging and helping each other make it up each obstacle, and then headed up the rest of the trail.
It was a beautiful night for a ride, and we made it back to the cars in Lyons as soon as it got dark.
Here's a shot of the girls in the rock garden on Bitterbrush!

This week, May 22, three of us made it out after a last-minute trail change. The weather was once again beautiful - mid-70s. We rode up Picture Rock trail at Heil Ranch.

Join us next week at Walker Ranch! Sign up to join us for this intermediate and advanced ride here: http://bouldermountainbike.org/events/gurlz-ride-walker-ranch
The ride is on Thursday, May 30. We meet at 5:45 and are ready to ride by 6.
The Gurlz took-over and conquered the Valmont Bike Park on September 29 for the final ride of the season. The gurlz split into groups and learned new skilz and honed old. Kristin Butcher, aka Catzilla, led those that were fairly new to riding through various skills drills, including wheelies! Another group put their suspension to good use jumping with Jen K, many got pumped in the pump track, and others rocked the rocks and stairs!
More pictures here. I know there were others taking better picts so feel free to link to them via the comment box below or post on facebook.
It was a very fun and satisfying night. It's safe to say that everyone learned something new and cool and mastered some other techniques. There is nothing better than seeing a group of women conquer an obstacle they were slightly intimidated by...and with the help of other gurlz. That's what these rides are all about!
As a fitting end to the night and the season, we celebrated at Boulder Beer with, of course, beer, food, and awesome give-a-ways. EVERYONE walked away with at least one if not two swag items. Thank you to:
- BMA
- Boulder Beer
- University Bikes
- Valmont Bike Park and the City of Boulder
- Kristin and her jersey closet
- and those that picked up the give-a-ways.

Did I miss anyone? Add to the comments below and I'll include in the list.
