Join us on October 1:

On October 1, 2011, Avid4 Adventure will provide FREE mountain bike instruction at the new Valmont Bike Park in Boulder. The ride is part of a nationwide celebration known as Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, supported by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).

Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance are proud to partner with the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department and Avid4 to bring you this event.

Here's what you will be able to do on October 1 from 10am-2pm at Valmont:

  • Kids and parents can participate together in 50 minute instructional rides at the park with an emphasis on safety and fun. Learn some new biking skills while exploring the park with expert Avid4 Adventure instructors. Clinics begin every half hour and pre-registration is required. At least one adult needs to accompany kid(s) on the clinic (except for Learn To Ride clinics which are for children only). The clinics will give both adults and kids a great experience of the park.
  • Climb on the Avid4 Adventure climbing wall.
  • Bring a picnic and enjoy the park as a family.
  • Make the transition off of training wheels with Avid4 Adventure staff using our Learn to Ride ProgressionTM in one of our hourly clinics between 10AM-2PM.
    Pre-registration required.
  • Learn more about key organizations that serve mountain bikers such as the Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance, the International Mountain Bicycling Association, the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation and others.
  • Bring your bike by for free safety checks and light tune ups.
  • Take a Kid Mountain Biking and enjoy the park

Please help us get these areas dialed for CX training and racing and build on our partnership with the Parks Dept as we head into the CX seaAfter years of hard work by the City of Boulder and local cycling community, the nationally recognized Valmont Bike Park is about to experience its cyclocross debut. On September 17th, Boulder Racing, will christen Valmont's cyclocross terrain with its season opener.

The NEW Valmont Course has a bit of everything; the short Belgium Stair Case, the longer 5280 Run Up, and one of the hardest sand boxes ever devised. This isn't the beach nor the Rez, the sand box is sure to stay fresh, challenging the afternoon crowds the same as the morning juniors. Overall the course has been designed to favor the rider with "punchy power" and a high top end gear. Each climb and stair case is immediately followed up by either a recovery downhill or fast gravel/sidewalk section.
