Valmont Park Host Training
Valmont Bike Park will soon be open! We expect that all summer long, folks will be flocking to this park to enjoy the world-class new facility, but might be a little at a loss on exactly which jump lines are right for them or the best way around the Glade trails. That's where you come in.
City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department has asked for your help. They want to train up some people as Park Hosts to know the park backwards and forwards, so that you can then convey that info to the general public. The Parks Department needs you to understand the layout of the park so you can tell XC and DJ riders where to go, so you can help people understand that different park features are built for different ability levels, and so you can answer people's questions about the park and keep everything running smoothly. Your help will be needed throughout the summer.
The Valmont Park Host program is also the "gateway" to a potential volunteer maintenance crew. So if you want to spend some time digging at Valmont this summer, you will first need to be trained up as a Park Host.
The next Park Host raining session is Tuesday June 7th, 5-7pm at the Park. Additional details will be sent to you upon registration. As a bonus incentive, trainees will be pre-riding the trails to pack them down in preparation for opening day. Yes, that means you get to ride the park before everyone else!
Basically, your job will be to hang out at the park, smile, interact with the public, and provide information. Volunteers should be 16 years of age or older. Not a bad way to volunteer your time, eh? Sign up now to join the Valmont Park Host program!
