ABOUT BOULDER MOUNTAINBIKE ALLIANCE

BMA is a not-for-profit association with a 501(c) (3) tax exempt status and is a membership based organization working towards three major goals.

•Creating a community of mountain bikers around a shared love of trails with social events and group rides.

•Advocate for trail access in the Boulder County area by working as a liaison to local land use agencies.

•Building & maintaining trails, as many as possible, that are fun and sustainable through efforts of members/volunteers.

BMA MISSION

The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance's mission is to serve as a positive voice for mountain biking in the greater Boulder Colorado area by improving the trail experience for all users through social rides and events, advocacy, and trail building.

INTRODUCTION

The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance is requesting proposals for ongoing bookkeeping services related to its day-to-day business operations. BMA has an annual budget of $240,000 and has a general manager. Current revenue sources include member dues, program fees, event fees, grants and donations. Memberships are processed through the IMBA system and after charging a fee, membership dues are paid to BMA on a quarterly basis. BMA is governed by a Board of Directors including a Treasurer who chairs the Board’s Finance Committee. The organization is in sound financial condition.

SCOPE OF WORK

BMA’s current bookkeeper uses Quickbooks online accounting software, which we anticipate continuing. Activities include:

•Adhering to all applicable local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws;

•Maintain income and expenditure accounts for grants and general funds;

•Record checks/ in BMA accounts

•Prepare invoices from Director requests;

•Reconcile all bank accounts monthly;

•Prepare monthly financial reports for the Director and Board of Directors including actual results and comparison to budget as required;

•Provide information to the BMA accounting firm for preparation of annual reports;

•Work collaboratively with the Director to prepare annual budgets and to refine the presentation of financial statements when needed. The current bookkeeper estimates he spends approximately 5 hours per month on BMA current business, but we anticipate a greater involvement in the maintenance of the Quickbooks accounts. The future monthly budget is estimated to be $500.
